Description
Pepper is the dried berry of Piper nigrum. This vine which can grow up to ten feet tall is indigenous to India and Asia. Pepper is actually berries that are picked about nine months after flowering.
Pepper is grown in Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Brazil.
White Pepper adds an earthy, mild pepper flavour to light coloured foods. In Chinese cuisine, ground white pepper is used to add flavor to soups, marinades for meat and poultry, and spicier stir-fries. White pepper is often used in dishes that need a peppery bite but where you don’t want black flecks, such as in white sauces and potato dishes.
Taste and Aroma Description: White Pepper is hotter, less subtle and mildly fermented.
