And what better way to celebrate Easter than with traditional, homemade pickled fish?  Cass Abrahams believes that pickled fish is a wonderful reflection of the mixed heritage of the Cape’s Coloured people, as it is a Malaysian-inspired dish that became synonymous with the Christian celebration of Good Friday.   ‘Good pickled fish uses typical Malay spices: whole peppercorns, cloves, all-spice and bay leaves; ground cumin, coriander, turmeric and masala; and slices of garlic.
